Racing fans will see a new look for the No. 11 AJ Foyt Racing Chevrolet at the 106th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on May 29 and have a chance to have a $1 million impact that supports military veterans.
Houses for our troops (HFOT), a non-profit organization that builds and donates specially adapted custom homes for severely injured post-9/11 veterans to allow them to rebuild their lives, will receive the design of car #11 driven by veteran JR Hildebrand by his sponsor, ABC Supply, to raise awareness of their mission. ABC Supply will also match all donations made to HFOT – up to $1 million in total – from Saturday, May 21 through Monday, May 30.
“I think the fans are going to love it, and I think the fans will be so happy to see the American flag – especially with our team,” said team owner and racing legend AJ Foyt. “I want to thank ABC Supply for supporting Homes For Our Troops. Great.”
Said Hildebrand, who is looking to make her 12th Indy 500 start: “To support this organization at the Speedway, to bring attention to veterans and some of the challenges they face and highlight the things that people and organizations like Homes For Our Troops makes giving them opportunities to better their lives is such a special thing to be able to participate in.
A longtime supporter and friend of AJ Foyt Racing, ABC Supply continues their sponsorship of the team in the Indy 500 while bringing attention to the important work of HFOT. With nearly 90% of its donations going directly to building homes and rebuilding lives, HFOT rarely advertises and relies on word of mouth. Visibility at “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” will showcase their mission to a national audience on NBC. The car’s star-studded design celebrates American pride and highlights HFOT’s mission of “Building Homes. Rebuilding Lives.”
To date, HFOT has built and donated over 330 homes for seriously injured post-9/11 veterans. After the homes are built, the relationship between HFOT and their veterans continues – the organization provides a volunteer financial planner to help with budgeting, homeownership education, a peer mentorship program and more .
“We are thrilled that ABC Supply is choosing to shine a light on Homes For Our Troops through this initiative,” said HFOT President and CEO Tom Landwermeyer. “In addition to generating revenue, this will help raise awareness of our mission. ABC Supply has been a wonderful partner and we are grateful for their commitment to our mission to build homes and rebuild lives.
ABC Supply Co. Inc.the nation’s largest wholesale distributor of roofing, siding, and other select exterior building products, has been a multi-million dollar HFOT supporter since 2020.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to be back at the Indy 500 with AJ Foyt Racing and raising awareness with our friends at Homes For Our Troops,” said Mike Jost, COO of ABC Supply. “HFOT is an incredible organization, and we are honored to play a part in bringing more attention to the great work they do.”
