The first step in a design journey can be illuminated by a glow stick that has burst into smithereens. Vadapalani resident Sathish Krishnan knows that for a fact
An accident caused a light bulb to explode in Sathish Krishnan’s head. A glowstick erupted, and the shards of glass that fell to the floor barely seemed like a mess to Sathish. It made a beautiful pattern, reminding him of phosphorescent paints. The accident had shown Sathish the irresistible charms of abstraction and bespoke design; and he felt inspired to start a design startup Dpodstudio that would celebrate both.
The startup, which operates from a studio in Ambattur, first began working with wood, stone, brass, copper, stainless steel and aluminum to create unique textural solutions. “We were initially skeptical about how we would market these textures and surfaces as standalone products, but the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive,” says Vadapalani resident Sathish.
Dpodstudio now creates texture-rich abstract artwork, custom doors and furniture. For more details visit www.dpodstudio.com
