ROCHESTER – A national company that designs and manufactures custom exteriors for skyscrapers opens a Med City office.
New Hudson facades, which has offices in New York, Chicago and Mendota Heights, Minn., is building a satellite office in Rochester’s Valley High Business Center II at 3425 40th Ave NW.
The plan is to open the Suite 104 office by the end of February.
NHF describes itself as a “bespoke architectural facade company specializing in the design, engineering, fabrication and installation of facades on world class buildings”. It manufactures custom exterior parts at its own facility in Pennsylvania.
He manufactures bespoke exteriors for buildings typically ranging in height from 50 to 70 stories. The company has no ongoing projects in Minnesota.
Christa hamann, manager of the New Hudson office in Mendota Heights, explained that there are two reasons for launching an office in Rochester.
“In fact, we have employees who drove to the Twin Cities because they recently moved to Rochester. We don’t want to lose them. So obviously we decided to open an office there, ”she said.
Two people will be based there initially, although Hamann said the office could accommodate up to 13 employees.
“Our workforce there will be CAD technicians and mechanical engineers,” she said.
Another factor that has spurred the opening of an office in Rochester is that New Hudson is recruiting employees from colleges and universities in the area, such as Iowa State University.
“We get people saying they want to stay near Iowa or wherever,” Hamann said. “If this is a great talent, we would love to have a place to bring them on board.
