The GT2 Explorer Master is built around a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 360Hz touch sampling rate. The display has 100% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage and Full HD+ resolution.

The company has developed a custom X7 display driver chip that optimizes display performance and power consumption. The bezel is ultra-thin, measuring 1.48mm at the sides and top and 2.37mm at the bottom.

The triple camera setup on the rear features the popular 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor – the same as the predecessor GT Explorer Master and seen in half a dozen other Realme smartphones. The 150-degree FoV ultra-wide camera has another 50MP sensor, while the third 2MP module only does macro shots. The 16MP selfie shooter is mounted in a centered punch hole.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset features a powerful Adreno 730 GPU that works with the Realme X7 chip to ensure better touch responsiveness and proper refresh rate selection. In theory, the X7 can artificially extrapolate the frame rate from 30fps to 120fps while gaming and from 60fps to 120fps in any other scenario.

The distinctive design of the phone is called “Travel Trunk”. The frame is metallic, while the back is “vegan leather,” which is a fancy plastic. The phone also comes in solid white and solid black. The device comes with shoulder keys – these are not typical mechanical buttons but pressure-sensitive areas on the right side (top when gaming).

Realme says the GT2 Explorer Master will do wonders for mobile gamers and power users who will be trying to get everything from the hardware. The phone has dual steam chambers and Realme GT 3.0 mode.

There’s 100W fast-charging support for the 5,000mAh battery, and Realme says 0-100 per cent is achieved in 25 minutes. The company has promised that despite this, the battery will have twice the longevity of its competitors thanks to the GaN materials in the cell, which guarantee 1600 complete cycles before the battery capacity is reduced to 80%.

The Realme GT2 Explorer Master has Realme UI 3.0 on Android 12, and it’s designed in such a way that the metal frame acts as an antenna for better 5G connectivity. Other features include dual-band GPS, 360-degree NFC, and an under-display optical FP scanner.

The phone will only be available in mainland China and Realme has no plans to export it overseas which is a shame as it looks really good. Pricing starts from CNY 3,499 for an 8/128 GB version, CNY 3,799 for 8/256 GB, and CNY 3,999 for 12/256 GB. Pre-orders are already open on Realme.com and shipping will begin on July 19.
