Toyota Hilux modified with accessories worth Rs 25 lakhs [Video]

The Toyota Hilux has entered the Indian car market with a bang. And as expected, it became a hit with off-road enthusiasts, due to its global heritage as an invincible vehicle and Toyota’s reliable image as a brand. The Hilux also hit the customization world, with several Hilux owners giving it a touch of customization and modifications to make it even more hardcore than its stock version. Here’s a heavily customized Toyota Hilux with added components to make it a more serious go-anywhere vehicle.

In a YouTube video of “Rolling Pistons”, the presenter introduces his viewers to Pulkit Kaushik, proud owner of a heavily customized Toyota Hilux from Delhi. The video explains all the added off-road specifications that Pulkit has chosen in its Hilux, which makes it a vehicle suitable for the most difficult terrain. The Hilux owner begins explaining the add-ons with two major items added to the Hilux – an aftermarket snorkel inspired by those made by Australia-based TJM and multiple rocker plates that protect key mechanical components of the vehicle underneath the skin.

The custom Toyota Hilux here in the video also gets BF Goodrich all-terrain tires, which are considered one of the best in this business. To accommodate these off-road tyres, which are priced at Rs 27,000 per tyre, the owner has also swapped the original diamond cut alloy wheels with aftermarket Lenso Max 11 alloys, with the complete set costing Rs 85,000.

The highlight among all the modifications or additions to the Toyota Hilux is the modified rear cargo area. The cargo deck comes with a covered area with custom roll cages, with a retractable table on the left side of the cage. This covered area also gets a 30W light with 30 different configurable color options and mounts for a sand ladder, jerry cans and shovel on top of it. The surface of the deck cover is covered with a LINEX rubber coating to protect the original paint of the deck surface.

In addition, the lower half of the bridge is covered with a remote-controlled roller shutter, which comes from the Thai company Hamer. On the roof of this covered area, the Hilux gets a collapsible hardshell tent with a collapsible ladder, which can accommodate three full-size adults after uncovering it. This tent also comes with a built-in mattress and collapsible windows. The owner also plans to install a solar panel above the roof of the hard-shell cover, inside which the tent is stored after folding it.

Along with explaining his additions, the owner of the Hilux also points out here some of the shortcomings he encountered in the Hilux during his ownership. He complained about the abundance of hard plastics all over the cabin and isn’t as impressed with the NVH levels. He also says rear-seat comfort can be an issue on long trips for some.
