Xbox Elite 2 controllers can be customized through the Xbox Design Lab

The battle for the best console controller is heating up. Sony has just announced the release date and price of its premium DualSense Edge controller which is expected to rival the Xbox Elite Series 2 Wireless Controller.

Players can now customize their Elite Series 2 controllers through the Xbox Design Lab.

Microsoft is pulling out the big guns by allowing gamers to customize the color schemes of Xbox Elite Wireless Series 2 controllers. In a recent announcement, the company revealed that Xbox Design Lab can customize nearly every part of the premium controller.

A new trailer video showcases the level of customization that can be brought to the Xbox Elite Wireless Series 2 via Xbox Design Lab.

The customization options that can be done through the Xbox Design Lab are impressive. Microsoft states that “Gamers can choose from a variety of different colors to customize almost every external part of the Elite Series 2 controller, including the body, rear case, D-pad, bumpers, triggers, levers and buttons”.

Users can also choose the cross-shaped or faceted D-pad for the new controller. The colors of the controller base and the ring can also be customized. Players also have the option to add 16-character laser engraving for names, player tags, or custom messages to the controller.

According to the Xbox Wire article, “The best part is that Elite Series 2 controllers are designed to be fully customizable with interchangeable components, so you can play with a specific setup that works best for you. Choose the right components for unleash your best game, such as metal paddles and joysticks in different shapes.”

The Xbox Elite Series 2 Wireless Controller offers custom button mappings.

Gamers also have the option to “add a custom carrying case to match your style and keep the controller and components secure and organized. Mix and match colors on different parts until you settle on one. design that’s uniquely yours and shipped right to your door.”

The Xbox Elite Series 2 controller includes a replaceable D-pad, joystick customizations (classic, dome, or tall), and a set of four rear paddle extensions. The premium controller also comes with a gamepad tuning tool.

The Elite Series 2 inputs can be customized to suit the user’s playing style. Button mapping can be adjusted to gamer preference with up to three custom profiles. The pro controller also features new thumbsticks with adjustable tension, shorter trigger locks, and a wrap-around rubberized grip.

Pricing for custom color variants of the Elite 2 series starts at $149.99. The pro controller can be purchased with all Elite components and a custom color scheme for $209.99
